Last June, in between French lockdowns, Diyabanza and a number of others entered the Quai Branly museum in Paris, which has around 70,000 things from sub-Saharan Africa.
A month later on, in Marseille, Diyabanza tried to remove an ivory spear from the Museum of African, Oceanian and Native American Art.
On its website, the British Museum admits that some things in its Africa collections have “challenging histories, including the objected to ways by which some collections have actually been obtained, such as through military action”.
